Our vegetable section is growing by the year as so many of you want to grow your own. Many of the reasons cited are:
- Taste
- The enjoyment and excitement of taking something from seed to crop
- Good exercise
- The ability to control the addition of chemicals
- The pleasure of sharing produce with neighbours and friends
- Fresh air
- Sociability aspect
- A feeling of well-being
With this in mind, we try to stock a wide range of types and varieties, some of which you won't find in the local supermarket. If you find that we aren't growing something that you particularly like, have a word with the retail team and we'll see what we can do.
So, sowing has commenced for 2024 and here's what we will be growing this year:
Artichokes | Aubergines | Turnip |
Broad Beans | Climbing French Beans | Dwarf French Beans |
Runner Beans | Beetroot | Borecole (Kale) |
Broccoli | Purple Sprouting Broccoli | Brussels Sprouts |
Cabbage | Cauliflower | Celeriac |
Celery | Chard | Chillies |
Courgette | Cucumber | Kohl Rabi |
Leeks | Lettuce | Marrow |
Melon | Onion | Pak Choi |

Sweet Peppers | Sweetcorn | Tomato |
If you are anything like us, there's always room for something we haven't tried before so we also hope to have the following available as small plants: Loofah, Aubergines that are said to taste like meatballs and Tromboncino squash.
