VEGETABLES - WHAT ARE WE GROWING?

Our vegetable section is growing by the year as so many of you want to grow your own.  Many of the reasons cited are:

  • Taste
  • The enjoyment and excitement of taking something from seed to crop
  • Good exercise
  • The ability to control the addition of chemicals
  • The pleasure of sharing produce with neighbours and friends
  • Fresh air
  • Sociability aspect 
  • A feeling of well-being

With this in mind, we try to stock a wide range of types and varieties, some of which you won't find in the local supermarket.  If you find that we aren't growing something that you particularly like, have a word with the retail team and we'll see what we can do.

So, sowing has commenced for 2024 and here's what we will be growing this year:

If you are anything like us, there's always room for something we haven't tried before so we also hope to have the following available as small plants:  Loofah, Aubergines that are said to taste like meatballs and Tromboncino squash.
